Road to Hana

I guess I should give a little preface about the road to Hana. The road is 68 miles long (109kms) it connects Kahului to the town of Hana. It took us 2 hours and 15 minutes to get to Hana from Wailea. The highway is very windy and quite narrow, it passes over 59 bridges and 46 of these are only one lane alternating, the road has almost 620 curves.  *Info from Wikipedia

I want to thank everyone who gave their advice and suggestions on my facebook! We decided to leave the house at 5am and make our way straight to Hana, well just passed Hana to the seven sacred pools, and 100ft waterfall. I’m so glad that we did, the 2 mile hike to the waterfalls was beautiful and amazing! We hiked through a bamboo forrest, it was so dense that the sunshine barley made its appearance it’s almost hard to explain.

I feel like our photos don’t do the Road to Hana justice, but please enjoy our photos, and if you ever go to Maui, take the time to do the road, it’s well worth the time.

The guys were really considering it…
 Bamboo forrest- it was amazing!
Yup, tourists! Doing a 4 mile hike in flip flops!
 The big 100 ft waterfall.

We actually went and swam right underneath the waterfall. So refreshing.
This is part of the “Seven Sacred Pools”

We also went to the black sand beach (mile 32). I’ve never been to one before and it was breathtaking. The beach was smaller but still beautiful and clear turquoise water, of course we had to take a dip.
