Im trying really hard to find time to blog, I’ve actually got three other posts on the go, but with two under two, life is a little crazy/busy, but I love it. I really enjoyed going back into Carters monthly photos and posts so I’m going to do the same for Devin.

Size/Clothes- He’s going to get weighted and measured on Thursday but as for his last checkup (2 weeks ago) he was 8lbs 2 oz, and has grown an inch, now 20.75 inches long. He’s almost out of newborn clothes (depending on the brand) but is way to small for 3 month clothes. We’re now in the good old 0-3 month sleepers.

Sleeping- He’s a little prince when it comes to sleeping! He feeds around 9:30/10pm, again around 2:30/3am, and then his morning feed is at 6am. Not too bad at all!! Feeds are no longer taking an hr, but down to 35-40 minutes.

Food- Just mama’s milk. He’s had his first bottle and took it like a champ.

Loves- Cuddles, being bounced and his MamaRoo.

Not a fan- Diaper changes and tummy time.

What I want to Remember-  How tiny he is! I’m trying to soak up all this precious time with him, everyday he’s getting just a big bigger and before I know it he’ll be on the move.

What I’m looking forward to his first social smile, when he can start to interact with us a bit more, for when Carter and Devin can actually play together. I’m looking forward to seeing the boys grow up together!

30 at 30.

I’ve officially left my 20’s and now have entered my 30’s. I remember when I thought that 30 was old… I don’t feel old. I woke up this morning feeling the same that I did the day before. I don’t feel any different, although maybe today I should start using anti-ageing face wash instead of my anti-acne face wash.

When I think about 30 I really am everywhere that I wanted to be. I’m married to an amazing man who is always by my side. We bought a house this year, we have a sweet sweet son and baby #2 is due next month. I have a career that I love – although at times I think, “why did I pick a shift working career?”.
I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me, for us and for this life I have.

So to celebrate my 30th, I wanted to write 30 things that I’ve learned about life and myself.

1) I’m a dreamer, have always been one, will always be one – sorry Brent

2) I like to plan ahead. Way in advance, sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes its not.

3) That being a good wife is much more than “yes dear”, its about spending quality time, communicating, laughing together, and to just “be” together.

4) Being a mom is hard work, I’m loving it, but it can having its struggles and long days. The hugs, and kisses I get in return are worth much more than words.

5) I don’t like the rain. I wish we lived somewhere warm with less rain, one day I’ll get over it, maybe I wont.

6) I love being pregnant- although it can be uncomfortable at times. There is something about growing a baby, bringing life into this world that I love. I also will always remember that this is a blessing and not all women who want to carry a baby are able to.

7) Being an adult is serious business, there are lots of decisions in life- I just wish I wasn’t so indecisive.

8) Being a home owner comes with lots of work, its like having another job. Lots of maintenance needs to be done. (I can’t wait for our garden this summer!)

9) Tulips are my favourite flower.

10) I love coffee, but only with flavoured creamers. The actual taste of coffee I’m not a fan of.

11) I’ve learned that spending a lot of money on items isn’t worth it. I’d rather spend money on things that create/make memories over items. It’s important to live below your means.

12) Sleeping in is something I’ll never take for granted again. Before kids sleeping in was amazing, something I would try to do, now its a luxury, and it doesn’t happen often.

13) I’m learning how to spend less time on the internet, this includes my phone. There is so much in life that Im sure we’re all missing by always being connected. I want to enjoy the little things, spending time outside with the family and friends, creating memories.

14) Perspective is important. When you want to complain, just really look at your perspective of the situation. Im sure you’ll change your mind. I’m still working on this one.

15) Go with your gut feelings.

16) You will always be a student. Life is full of opportunities to learn, also share with others what you have learned, past mistakes, regrets, and anything helpful.

17) Your metabolism does and will slow down, treat your body with respect.

18) People cannot read my mind, I’ve been working on this. Actually saying how I’m feeling or what I’m wanting.

19) Knowing and understanding love languages are important. I wonder what Carters  and Baby #2 will be.

20) Don’t spend too much time worrying, you’ll lose sleep, and as I already mentioned sleep is important.

21) I’ve learned to be grateful for what I have- kind of goes with the whole perspective. Don’t compare your self to others, once again not worth it. Everyones roads are different.

22) I love sweets, but not the pastry kind. The chocolate, ice cream, cookies, brownies kind. They are so bad, yet so good!

23) Your never too old or have too many to make a new friend. You never know the impact that someone may have on your life, they may be around for just a season, or a lifetime.

24) Enjoy Snow days, we don’t get them often. So when we actually get one, enjoy it and spend the day outside!

25) Busy is overrated!! It really is, the fact that Carter goes down for the night at 7pm keeps me at home (not that its a bad thing) but it allows me to unwind and not make plans. One little activity a day is ok, more than 2 is not.

26) Its important to keep your word. If you say your going to do something, do it.

27) It’s also ok to say No.

28) Family is important, as you grow you learn this more.

29) You are never to old for Disney movies! And now that I have kids, we get to watch them all over again!

30) Be kind to everyone and smile.

So for today, I’m going to celebrate the 30 years that I have had. Spend time with Brent and Carter and create more memories. Although I can’t have any wine, I will enjoy my Sanpellegrino and ice cream this evening!

Lets Celebrate

With Carter turning one we wanted to celebrate!!

There has been such a huge change in the last 4 week, my little baby carter is now a little boy. So much more “toddler” like. Its wonderful and yet overwhelming at the same time.

This last month we also had a wonderful time out in Ontario and went and visited Grandma and Grandpa’s farm. (Its an apple farm)

IMG_0644 IMG_0688

Teeth- Carter did get this 5th tooth this last month, he now has 3 on the bottom and 2 on top.

Size/Clothes- He’s still in 12 month clothes but with sleepers he’s now in 18 month. He weights 21.7lbs and is 31 inches long! (Last month he weighted 20.8lbs)

Sleeping- Has gotten so much better over the last week, (while we were in Ontario it wasn’t great at all, except for the one 9hr stretch he gave us). But now he’s only waking up once a night (betwn midnight and 2am) and sleeps in his own room, and wakes up between 6-7am.

Food- Has also been such a big change, he’ll eat almost anything we eat now!! All of a sudden on the farm he stopped being picky and started to eat soups, cheese, rice, anything that we made for lunches/dinners he would eat. Its been so wonderful. And, although he still doesn’t really feed himself much he does take almost anything off of a spoon.

Mobility- We have a full blown crawler!! He also pulls himself up, furniture walks, and is trying to stand on his own but isn’t quite there yet.

Loves- Emptying baskets/boxes/drawers ect. Enjoys emptying our clean folded laundry, his toy truck thats full of mega blocks, and hitting Tupperware together.

Not a fan- I can’t really think of anything, he’s just such a happy baby.

What I want to Remember- How he loves to explore, try new things, and has no fear (right now, which is also a bad thing too). I want to remember how he sees the world, and all the cuddles he gives us, right now.

What I’m looking forward to
His first birthday party!!! He’s actually have two, one with the family and one with the babies from our South Birthing Program group. (I’ve mentioned these wonderful mama’s and their babies before) and we’ve stayed friends over this past year (we even have a date to the pumpkin patch this month!) and a perfect way to celebrate our babies is to have a big one year birthday party!!

This month we celebrated the big 10 months in Tofino, we hung out on the beach.

Teeth– He now has 4 teeth and I can just start to see another bottom one that will be coming up soon.

Size/Clothes– He’s still in 12 month clothes including sleepers.

Sleeping– There has been no change to his sleeping, two naps during the day, and wakes one to two times during the night. Hopefully soon it will be less and less feedings in the night.

Food– When it comes to food, he’s still picky!! He’s starting to get better with the baby led feeding, but he loves food on a spoon. He just started to get into pasta (spaghetti, or bow tie noodles). Loves yogurt, hit and miss with cheese, loves fruit, really no change here this month.

Mobility– He can now get onto all 4’s and does a little bit of rocking, he attempted to move while on his hands and knees but lost his balance and landed on his tummy. But its coming!

Loves– the mirror!! Whenever he’s a little grumpy boy I just bring him over to the mirror and I can get him smiling and giggling. He also loves his roughhousing with Brent; the laughs that I hear from him/them, oh I just love that sound. He’s also learned how to clap this last month, and he loves it, maybe its the praise he gets from us, but the smile that comes with his clapping is adorable!

Not a fan– Of food, but really it’s come full circle, Brent and I were both picky kids, what else can we expect?!?

What I want to Remember
How he fits in my arms, how I just love when he rests his head on my shoulders, how he plays with my necklace for comfort. All these little things that make him “my baby” but yet he’s growing up so fast.

What I’m looking forward to
Moving into our HOUSE!! The house were Carter is going to grow up in, where lots of memories will be made, where he will get his own room (which may be harder for me than him) where he’ll have a fenced backyard for him and Izzie to play in. Oh the possibilities! I can’t wait.

Happy 3 Years!

August 19th, its OUR day, the day our two lives became one. The day we said “I do”, the day we celebrated with family and friends and danced the night away. That was 3 years ago, and I’m more in love with my husband, best friend, and father of our son than I was 3 years ago.

In the last 3 years we got a puppy together, had a baby, learned about being a parent, sold our condo, bought a house, moved once into a temporary place until we got out house, and done a few little mini vacations, and I couldn’t imagine doing it with anyone else. I love having you by my side and here is to many many more years!

Swedish Visit & Ironman Canada

My brother came for a visit! We never really got along in high school, hung out with two different crowds, had different interests, just didn’t see eye to eye but that all changed 5 years ago when he moved to Stockholm, Sweden. Its funny how it takes a move to really understand and get each other, that or being adults.

My mom and I went out to visit him, that was almost 4 years ago. Brent and I have plans to take Carter and do a family trip out to Sweden next midsommer, but for now Andrew comes out here to see us once a year.

Andrew and his girlfriend Maja came last November to meet “the new baby” which Carter ended up coming a few days early. I was actually glad, I was nervous that Carter would be late and they wouldn’t get a chance to meet the baby.

Well this time Andrew came out by himself to compete in Canada’s Ironman up in Whistler. I’ve followed some of Andrews past Half Ironmans and Ironmans online but have never been there to cheer him on, so this seemed like a perfect occasion for a little family vacation up to Whistler to cheer him on.

IMG_1677 IMG_1635

The weather the week of the IM was perfect, a little cooler than the hot spell that we had just had but that Sunday the temperature was forecasted for a warm 31 degrees, and warmer in the Pemberton Valley.

We got up to Whistler on the Thursday (IM was on Sunday) that gave Andrew a few days to find the course route and get a little bike ride and swim in before the big day.

Sunday morning started early, we were up at 5:30 for our 6am walk/run to the lake for the start. Andrew got up at 4am. We never actually saw Andrew start but we did see everyone in their wetsuits and swim caps on, and a huge massive swim start. We stayed in the location so we could watch Andrew transition from swim to bike.

A little selfie while waiting…

After the swimming finished (we stayed till the end) the athletes have 2 hrs and 20 mins to finish. We made our way back to the hotel, but as we were walking back we passed the bike route, we asked around and we were at the 60km mark, so we figured that Andrew should be coming by in the next 30 mins, and we were right! We got to give him a little cheer.
Ironman Whistler-6 Ironman Whistler-10
Then it was nap time, part 1. Nap and then spend some time at the pool. We knew that we had about 5 hours before we would see Andrew at the transition for Bike to run. So after the pool it was lunch and nap.

We saw Andrew just past the transition and again at the 7km part of his run (he’s now running a marathon after swimming 3.8kms AND cycling 180kms). And we figured that we had another 5 hours until he would finish, so we would have our dinner, and then nap time part 3 (this being a spectator is exhausting!) 😉

Ironman Whistler-22 Ironman Whistler-17

We were able to keep track of Andrew since their checkin points is all online. So we were expecting him to finish around 10:15pm -10:30pm. Just before 10 we got up from our final nap, got Carter all ready and made our way to the finish line, and right as we were finding a spot we heard the MC voice “ANDREW ROSYCHUK…. YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!” although we didn’t actually see him cross (I will say that he picked up his speed for the last 2 miles because he started to run with a friend). We did hear the announcement and did see him get his metal and space blanket. We were (and still are) so proud of him!
IMG_1735 IMG_1740

After 15hours and 9 mins of continuous strain on ones body, he finished. I couldn’t even finish one of the legs.

And a few other photos of Andrew and Carter.

ongratulations Andrew!! And we’ll see you out in Sweden next summer!!
